Notification: IUSTI Tribute to Dr Ronald Campbell Ballard (1946–2026)
The International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI) mourns the passing of Dr Ronald Campbell Ballard (1946–2026), a pioneering scientist, educator, and global leader in sexually transmitted infection research. His work in southern Africa, the UK, and with the US CDC transformed STI control, guided policy, and inspired generations. Dr. Ballard was an associate professor of the Southern African Journal of Epidemiology and Infection, the precursor of SAJID. Read the full IUSTI tribute here.

Website Update: AI in Research: Transparency and Compliance Reminder
In 2025, the inclusion of AI policies became compulsory for all SciELO SA journals. Authors using AI-assisted technology must disclose their use in manuscripts to ensure transparency, accuracy, and trust. Guidance is available in the Plagiarism, Fabrication and Artificial Intelligence Policy page and the Submission Guidelines under 'AI-assisted technologies' in the formatting requirements.
